Bappi Lahiri Passes Away In Mumbai Hospital At Age 69; 'He Had Multiple Health Issues,' Says Doctor
Music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri is no more. He died at Mumbai's Criticare Hospital. He was 69. "Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) shortly before midnight," Dr Deepak Namjoshi told PTI.

The legendary singer delivered songs in several films like Chalta Chalte, Disco Dancer and Sharaabi. His last appearance on the screen was with Salman Khan on the popular reality show Bigg Boss 15. He promoted his grandson Swastik's new song 'Baccha Party'. The veteran singer and Salman's fun banter had won hearts of the BB viewers. In April last year, Bappi Lahiri had been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. He recovered after a few days.
"Despite utmost precautions, unfortunately, Mr Bappi Lahiri has tested positive for COVID-19. He is under very good and expert care at the Breach Candy Hospital. Bappi dada's family requests all those who came in contact with him in the recent past to get themselves tested as a precautionary measure," a spokesperson had said in a statement.

The news of his death has left fans heartbroken. Fans have flooded the internet with condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is 'saddened' by the death of the legendary singer. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji's music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."
